__________
I already posted a representation of the iconic view of Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park earlier this week. As I've been known to do, I've looking other directions for new and different views at iconic locations. It's my effort to make a unique interpretation that's been done countless times before. In this case, I simply climb the rocks just to the left of Mesa Arch.
Truly, the landscape from this location is spectacular without even considering the arch. Just the view across the basin here over the Colorado River to the distant La Sal mountain range is amazing. The interesting thing is I'm not sure until this particular moment had I ever looked beyond the arch to see what's there even though I've been to this location about a dozen times.
Sometimes we get so focus'd on what's directly in front of us we might miss other slightly more subtle opportunities just nearby. I guess there's nothing wrong with that. The lesson this particular image brings me is always look for the other angle even though what you have right in front of you is plenty amazing by itself. You might find a gem that no one else as discovered.
Cheers
Tom
