__________
When I started this particular shoot I wasn't very optimistic. There was an approach rain storm. The clouds were everywhere though they weren't thick. I just didn't know how thin they were. I was hopeful when the sun descended to the west that it'd be able to illuminate the clouds from below from beyond the horizon. Turns out I was lucky because that's precisely what happened.
If you look at the series of images I shot the first pictures were dull and gray. Then for about 10 minutes I get this, beautiful bright color. So much color it was bathing everything with a nice warm hue. Even after most of the warm color disappeared, the sunset was still beautiful as shown by this image I posted a couple days ago: http://www.tom-hill.biz/Galleries/Scenics/California/i-qJZFGZX/A
This image was made by with my new 14-24mm lens--which I'm very enthusiastic about, btw. I shot two images by swinging the camera from left to right then stitching them together in Photoshop back at home. The field of view here is quite wide, almost 180 degrees. It's hard to tell but the arch is about 10 to 15 feet tall and it's only about 10 feet from the camera.
Cheers
Tom
