Railway Trestle in Snow - Cloudcroft, New Mexico
__________
I'm on vacation. No, I'm not doing anything epic like going to Yellowstone or other exotic places. I am home at my house in Alamogordo, New Mexico. There is much wonderfulness with being home. But, being home does not mean I can't do epic things. At least they're epic in my book. I've been riding my bike extensively. I did a personal record for climbing up to High Rolls, about halfway up the mountain behind the house. That's it's own story down the road.
I've also been running, my first major stint of running in months, since I bought my new bicycle. Yesterday and today I ran trails up on top of the mountain behind the house. Today was more epic because there was snow, about three inches of fresh snow. It was great though I'm feeling it now in my legs. Yes, you need totally different muscles for running than you do for biking.Self Portrait - Cloudcroft, New Mexico
__________
I took this self portrait just prior to starting my run. All told, it was almost seven miles of trails and roads. It was by far the longest I've run in almost six months. I'm sore, in other words.
After completing the run on the way home, I stopped at the railroad trestle overlook to shoot it. I've always imaged shooting it with it snow covered. The first picture isn't quite as perfect as I would've like but it does well enough. The colors are pretty muted which comes from the deep overcast over the mountains.
Cheers
