Motorcycles & Trail Running - 18 August 11
Rim Trail - Cloudcroft, NM
This is an interesting picture in that I took it just after finishing a run through the woods. I'm not talking a run on my bike. I'm talking a run using my own two feet.
You see, I've been exploring cool idea of combining a couple or three of my passions--riding motorcycles, running, and maybe photography. In this case I road into the mountains behind my house on my motorcycle. It's not exactly the most remote road but it is completely off-road. It's about five miles of forest dirt and gravel road to get to this point. After getting here, I get off my motorcycle gear, put on my running shoes, lock everything up, then go for a run.
The trail you see in the background is the first section of my run. It's a rocky single track trail that's tough for a mountain biker and certainly difficult for the budding trail runner like me.
The neat thing is after finishing my run, I just get my gear back on then I can get back to riding the bike. I this case I road through the mountains to the local mountain community, Ruidoso.
I'll write more on how this works, this combining of running and biking in the future. I've done this on camping adventures already as well which I'm sure you'll find interesting.
Cheers
Tom
